Mobile Web
Mobile Web Makes Doing Business Better, Faster, More Local, & Immediate.
Mobile search local search will surpass desktop search. The lines will pass by 2015.
It took about an hour of iPad ownership to realize that I don’t need my laptop(s) for over 80% of what I now use them for.
The experience sent my mind through a whirlwind of thoughts about my hundreds of business-owner connections, and how they can leverage the iPad to present a unique advantage over their competitors.
I started looking around for iPad Apps for business and saw several compelling case studies on the Apple website. My intuitions were confirmed. iPad is already starting to set apart the early business adopters from their competitors.
The beauty of mobile apps is that they can go from a brainstorm whiteboard sketch to a working prototype that is ready for testing and feedback in just a couple of weeks. That fact alone is compelling enough for businesses to explore ways of differentiating themselves and showcasing their advantages.
Although intuitively I knew this can be an inflection point for a business, the actual reason became clear when I asked my six year old daughter why she likes the iPad. Her answer: “because I can touch it so much”. Yes, that’s it. Ease of use compels more use. That’s a fact. Make something just a little easier to use and watch its usage rise.
So imagine your sales rep is out pitching your products and services to your prospects. Just having a user friendly, compelling, and visually appeasing tool like a tablet will make them want to make more calls, present to more people, and close more deals. Can it really be that simple? Can fish swim?
